They immediately noticed that we had a new, comfortable space where we could gather together as a class. It has quickly become an important part of our classroom and has helped create a welcoming space where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas, asking questions, and learning alongside their classmates.\r\n\r\nWe are using the carpet throughout the day for whole-group lessons, class discussions, partner conversations, and collaborative activities. One of my favorite things has been seeing students gather together to discuss their thinking and listen to the ideas of their classmates. The carpet gives us a designated space to come together as a classroom community while practicing important skills such as taking turns, communicating respectfully, and working as a team.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using this space during our STEM learning and problem-solving activities. Students will gather on the carpet to discuss challenges, brainstorm possible solutions, share their designs, and reflect on what worked and what they might change. These opportunities allow students to learn from one another while building communication, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills. We are so grateful to our donors for helping us create a space that brings our students together and makes our classroom feel even more like a community!","fullyFundedDate":1788891658171,"projectUrl":"project/sitting-together-learning-together/10331143/","projectTitle":"Sitting Together, Learning Together","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10002932_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y484&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1785613699710","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10002932"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6356","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":628,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.9,"schoolId":6356,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Duncan Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Duncan Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/spartanburg-school-district-5/duncan-elementary-school/6356"}
