The new floor spots, boom whackers, scarves, maracas, rhythm sticks and carpet squares have transformed the way my students experience music and movement. We use the floor spots and carpet squares to create organized spaces for rhythm and movement activities, helping students stay focused and engaged. The boom whackers, rhythm sticks and maracas have become favorites during rhythm lessons—students explore beat, tempo, and dynamics through hands-on playing, while the scarves bring our creative movement lessons to life as students express musical moods and form through dance.\r\n\r\nOne of the most memorable moments was the day we first unpacked the instruments. The students' eyes lit up with excitement, and the room buzzed with curiosity as they explored each new material. During our first activity with the boom whackers, the class worked together to play a simple melody, and their teamwork and pride were incredible to see. We're now using these materials to prepare for a \"Rhythm/Music Around the World\" project, where students will create and perform pieces inspired by music from different cultures. We have set up the store, and have assigned student jobs. They are learning about taxes, specifically income and sales tax. We will add in property taxes later in the year. This has helped every level of students I have. The lower level students get to work on adding and subtracting. The higher level students are using multiplication and division. They are also using money and learning how to give change. \r\n\r\nThe students were very excited when they saw boxes getting delivered to the classroom. They have been better behaved and more focused on making sure they are doing the right thing in order to earn some money. Our next steps will be working on our own banking system and store inventory.
