The dry erase regrouping boards have already made a huge difference in our math lessons. One of our first projects was a \"regrouping relay,\" where small groups solved multi-digit subtraction problems on their boards and raced to show their thinking. Students who once hesitated with regrouping were suddenly eager to pick up the marker and try.\r\n\r\nThe meter sticks brought measurement to life in a hands-on way. We recently measured different objects around the room, from the length of a rug to the height of our classroom door, and then compared data as a class. Having their own tools means they can take ownership of their writing and keep everything organized without delay or distraction. My first grade students were especially excited to use these markers to create an AB or an ABC pattern for their self-portraits. Students were able to use fresh black sharpies to create vibrate gems with yarn and foil. Due to Spring Break and state testing, fourth grade students did not get a chance to create their yarn paintings. However, I plan to have students create their yarn paintings this upcoming month during their 21st century summer program. Thank you for helping to provide black construction paper.
