We just opened a new public school in a high poverty area of Columbia, SC. Our population is very culturally and racially diverse. Our school has branded itself as a leader in Culturally Relevant Teaching pedagogy for our area. We are cultivating our amazing potential to develop students with 21st leadership skills. Our music development program provides opportunities for each child to achieve in music. We were given start-up money for instruments, some curriculum, and other basic needs in a music program. Our scholars will have many opportunities to grow as musicians. I believe that these opportunities will help them change the world as agents of peace and respectful collaboration.
