This then, in turn, impacts their ability to focus and learn. And having to reach out and ask for these things can also be embarrassing for young teens. \r\n\r\nI am keeping these goods in a stocked supply cabinet they can access without having to ask for them. So far, just a few weeks into the school year, I have already restocked the cabinet multiple times. And many students have remarked that all teachers should have these things, because they really make a HUGH difference in their day. It helps create a safe and supportive space for learning. Many immediately began talking through ideas — which moments from their lives they'd share, how they'd incorporate family photos, and the best way to capture memories that mattered to them. It was clear from the very first day that these materials would spark meaningful work.\r\n\r\nWe've been using your generous gift to create personal memoir albums, blending reflective writing with creative design. One student shared a powerful story about immigrating to the United States and decorated her pages with maps and cultural symbols. Another honored a late grandparent by pairing photos with recipes and handwritten letters. Every student is engaged, and I love seeing their excitement when making their photographs. One student in particular has never really talked in class or shown any enthusiasm for the artwork they created. However, with this project, this student is actively modeling, assisting with lighting, and helping others with the camera functions.\r\n\r\nThe desk has been the best addition to my classroom. It faces the windows, and students love to sit there to edit images on an iPad and create artwork. Students are using the resources to craft and collaborate on projects in order to create a cohesive final project. When my students first saw the materials for the project, they were both excited and inquisitive. They have seen a Cricut machine before and wondered how we would be using it, while also offering insight on what they've done in the past on one. However, many students have never seen a button maker, so these students had many questions and were excited to see how one worked. Currently, students are working on brainstorming designs for a button to represent our school.
