When our box first came in the mail, they were so excited to open everything and try it all out. Since then, my students have enjoyed being able to take learning outdoors so much. \r\nOne of the favorite activities as been using sidewalk chalk to draw and label things we are learning about outside. They have also enjoyed the bird feeders and bird seed. They love seeing cardinals outside and will hopefully see a blue bird soon!\r\nOur next steps is to incorporate math into some of our outdoor supplies. We are currently learning about measurement, so we are going to kick some of the playground balls and measure how far out they go. Some of my math standards include estimating measurement and selecting the correct tool and unit to use. This will be a fun and engaging way to make this learning come alive. \r\nThank you again for having a heart for public education. They immediately took turns trying to guess what could have possibly been gifted to us!\r\n We were able to discuss generosity and why people feel generous, so thank you for giving our classroom family the opportunity to discuss that character trait! As soon as we opened the boxes to finally discover the contents, they became even more excited to know that they got such exciting items to enrich their physical and mental learning through outdoor play opportunities.\r\n With this, our class also took time to discuss gratitude for such generosity as well as some guidelines we could agree upon to take very good care of the items. We also agreed upon some ideas for sharing and playing with them together. I and my students are so very grateful for the character building that your donation provided for us as well as the items themselves.
