Within just the first 4 weeks of school, students have needed the earbuds and adapters several times. Having this technology in the classroom open to students has made their access more equitable and I am able to meet the needs of my lower-income students without embarrassing them or shaming them in any way. Although our school provides iPads, they do not have the place to plug in the traditional auxiliary headphone jack that still comes standard on headphones or earbuds. This used to mean that my students who have their own headphones still didn't have the ability to use them on their school-issued devices, and now that I have this technology to offer them, they do! \r\n\r\nI focus to increase interpretive skills in listening with several practice activities a week and listening is also a part of their summative end-of-unit assessment. In a language course, it is essential to receive the input of the target language to grow that skill, but many students today have a high affective filter, trouble focusing, or maintaining their attention during listening activities that are done as a whole-group. By providing personal listening opportunities, students can play, pause, go back, etc. as much as they would like to build confidence and comfort in listening to the target language. Just as we often have to ask for clarification or for someone to repeat something in a conversation in English, students need to do this in French also. Students are truly enjoying being able to listen on their own and take their time. Thank you for making this possible for each student!","fullyFundedDate":1745111949366,"projectUrl":"project/listening-to-learn-world-language-headp/9097146/","projectTitle":"Listening To Learn: World Language Headphones","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Overcash","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1524597"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6899","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1854,"numTeachers":158,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"10 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.7,"schoolId":6899,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Clover High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Clover High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/clover-school-district/clover-high-school/6899"}
