Before the project was funded we did not have a single non-fiction title about Ellis Island, and our students noticed the hole in our collection. \r\n\r\nNow we can tell when this topic of U.S. history is being discussed in our 3rd-5th grade classrooms as these books tend to circulate heavily. It's so interesting to see students gain an interest in specific topics. Our school library is at the heart of our school - physically in the center of our building, but also beloved by the teachers and students. This set of encyclopedias has given our school community, specifically our students, access to a type of text that was missing from our school library collection - encyclopedias! These texts are full of rich pictures, graphics, and photographs that make them perfect for our emerging AND well-developed readers. \r\n\r\nThe books are incredibly beautiful texts that we are so fortunate to offer our students. The information in these books are presented in a modern, fresh, vibrant way. I know our students will enjoy looking at and learning from these texts for many years to come. \r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity and kindness.
