Sorry for this being late as well it has been very busy in the classroom. We have enjoyed all of the sensory items. The Axolotl stuffed animals and the sensory water pad. The number caterpillar has been a big hit as we are learning to count. I had one student to hide the axolotl animals all over the room then we had to find them. The quiet corner cube has help to provide a space when the student just needs time away from others but can still be in the room.","fullyFundedDate":1746962521955,"projectUrl":"project/every-voice-matters-support-our-special/9267261/","projectTitle":"Every Voice Matters: Support Our Special Ed Stars","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hoskins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8449070"},{"teacherId":9912828,"projectId":9089949,"letterContent":"When the flexible seating first arrived in our classroom, the excitement was absolutely contagious. My students' eyes lit up as we unpacked the stools, cushions, and wobble seats, and they immediately began imagining how they could use the new spots for reading, math games, and group projects. Many of my students had never experienced a classroom where they had the freedom to choose where and how they learned best, so this moment felt incredibly special to them. Several students even said, \"This is the best classroom ever!\" Their pure joy reminded me why these materials are so impactful — they don't just provide comfort, they create a sense of ownership and pride in our learning space.\r\n\r\nSince that first day, we've found so many ways to incorporate the flexible seating into our daily lessons. During guided reading groups, students love grabbing a cushion and forming a circle on the rug to discuss the story together. In math, we use the wobble stools and lower tables for hands-on activities like building numbers with base-ten blocks or using ten-frames to solve problems. These options have given students a way to move while they work, which keeps their bodies engaged and their minds focused. One of my students, who often struggled to sit still during lessons, now chooses a wobble stool and is able to participate in every activity without constant redirection. This simple change has had such a positive impact on their confidence and academic progress.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far happened during a recent \"Math Workshop\" project. We were practicing addition strategies, and students were working in small groups to solve real-world problems using counters, number lines, and manipulatives. I noticed a group of students sitting together at a low table with cushions, laughing and problem-solving as a team. What struck me most was how naturally they collaborated — they were sharing ideas, taking turns explaining their thinking, and even encouraging one another when mistakes were made. The flexible seating made it easy for them to sit closely and communicate effectively, turning what could have been a quiet, independent task into a lively, cooperative learning experience.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're planning to use our new seating areas to launch a digital storytelling project with Book Creator. Students will be writing and illustrating their own stories to share with families and our school community. The seating options will allow them to find comfortable, quiet spaces to write or record their audio without distractions. I can already imagine how proud they'll feel sharing their finished projects during our classroom \"Author Celebration.\"\r\n\r\nThanks to the generosity of our donors — especially the Bezos Family Foundation — we've been able to create a classroom environment where every student feels valued and supported. These resources have not only improved our daily routines but also opened the door to new, creative ways of learning. My students are more engaged, more collaborative, and more confident in themselves. As their teacher, I'm so grateful for the opportunity to provide them with a space where they can truly thrive. Every day, I see how your support is shaping their educational journey, and I can't wait to share even more success stories as the year continues.","fullyFundedDate":1747026380042,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-an-engaged-and-comf/9089949/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for an Engaged and Comfortable Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vaughn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9912828"},{"teacherId":3249477,"projectId":9267031,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my library classroom through the Donors Choose grant!
