Now more than ever in my career, students have been reaching for graphic novels. Being able to provide them with a wide variety of options and genres helps keep students motivated and reading. Many of the graphic novels in our current collection are several years old and showing signs of wear from heavy usage. Having new options really helps improve our shelf asthetics. \r\nAdditionally this donation has an even greater impact due to the fact that our district has been experiencing financial difficulties over the last several years. Over time our library book budget has been decreasing, but it was still a shock this past Summer when they cut the budget to zero! All very valuable learning experiences!\r\n\r\nWe have enjoyed having these books as part of our classroom library, and have even shared our class sets with several other 6th grade ELA classes.
