At Young Woods Elementary, shelving is an essential need for organizing reading materials that will assist teachers in providing targeted small group reading instruction. Our school has received funding for K-5 Scholastic Bookroom which features over 6,000 culturally diverse books and lesson plans, differentiated by reading levels to help teachers enhance skills such as fluency, vocabulary and comprehension in readers of all levels. Thanks to your donations, we were able to sort and organize these resources in an efficient way on the shelving system that was purchased. Teachers have been better able to access the materials for student targeted instruction.\r\n\r\nOur students love to read and are deserving of the differentiated support these instructional materials can provide when organized and available for quick, easy access by their teachers. Due to the shelving system being put in place, easily accessed by teachers, students have been able to obtain differentiated support in their reading small groups. Their grades are sure to improve and their ability to access a wide range of books to support their learning has certainly been made easier.\r\n\r\nMoreover, since time is valuable for elementary educators, streamlining the process of accessing these resources has saved them precious time, allowing for more time to prepare and organize for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1742936005315,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-organized/9095961/","projectTitle":"Let's Get Organized!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Salisbury","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3277664_orig.jpg?crop=1378,1378,x0,y222&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597082959430","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3277664"},{"teacherId":9920273,"projectId":9492836,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generosity and kindness. The addition of the Melissa and Doug cleaning kit helps students take responsibility for \"cleaning\" up the kitchen. This encourages role playing and collaborative play. A child recently used the broom and dustpan to sweep up scraps of paper from the Art area floor. \r\n\r\nThe individual rocker seats are perfect for our students who benefit from flexible seating to help them engage in story time and large group activities. The rocking provides students with a way to self-regulate and calm themselves. \r\nThe sensory bottles have been a perfect addition to the calming area and the science area where students enjoy watching the slow drips of the bottle. \r\nOne of the substitute items was a set of stools that we use in the Art studio.
