One of the biggest changes has been creating clear schedules and classroom routines, including a homework board, daily schedule, and grade-wide reminders. These visual supports have helped my students better understand what is expected of them and become more comfortable navigating our classroom routines.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials and the organized space, they were excited to see how much more intentional and welcoming our classroom felt. They quickly learned where everything belonged and have become very comfortable with our routines and classroom systems. It has been wonderful to see them take ownership of the space and use the visual reminders independently.\r\n\r\nA specific way I am using the donated materials is during small-group instruction. The whiteboards and erasers have made it much easier for students to participate in guided practice, show their thinking, and receive immediate feedback. These tools have made our small-group lessons more interactive and engaging.\r\n\r\nAs we continue with our current lessons, my students will keep using the whiteboards during guided practice and small-group instruction while building independence with our classroom routines and visual schedules. The organization and resources provided through this donation have made my classroom feel much more intentional. There is now a clear space for everything, and I feel more collected and prepared as an educator. Most importantly, I feel that I am able to do my job better and provide my students with a classroom environment where they can feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1784136822152,"projectUrl":"project/making-math-add-up-for-all-students/10346142/","projectTitle":"Making Math Add Up for All Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bertolotti","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10535511"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91454","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":594,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":21,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":81,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.5,"schoolId":91454,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Portsmouth Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Portsmouth Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/rhode-island/portsmouth-school-district/portsmouth-middle-school/91454"}
