Students will be presented with the phenomena of how our local crustaceans and shellfish are losing shell strength and how this is effecting the fishing industry and the coastal marine ecosystem. Students will explore what may be causing these changes. They will experiment creating various levels of CO2 and the impacts this has on PH. Then they will choose a marine organism (shells from crustacean or shellfish, plants, algae) and test what the impacts of increased levels of acidification cause. They will use this to make predictions for the future, and finally create a PSA.
