My students came into a classroom that had a magnificent reading center for them to explore many texts. Mr. Sketch markers, with their bold colors and fun scents, capture students' attention and make learning more exciting. From full-color alphabet cards to illustrated story prompts and behavior charts, color adds clarity and interest that makes a real difference for early readers. Its structured, research-based approach provides a clear roadmap for introducing phonemic awareness, phonics, and decoding in a way that is both systematic and engaging for young learners. I've seen how the explicit instruction and consistent routines help students build confidence and make steady progress. The manual supports differentiation as well, allowing me to meet students where they are and provide targeted instruction based on their individual needs.\r\n\r\nThe ABC tree has also become an essential tool in our daily routine. It serves as a visual anchor for letter-sound relationships, giving students a consistent and interactive reference point. Whether we are working on initial sounds, segmenting words, or writing independently, the ABC tree reinforces what we learn in a fun and accessible way. Together, the UFLI manual and the ABC tree have created a rich literacy environment where students are actively engaged, developing foundational skills, and building the confidence they need to become successful readers.","fullyFundedDate":1740789066446,"projectUrl":"project/chicka-chicka-we-love-reading/9119692/","projectTitle":"Chicka-Chicka We Love Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mannino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4870533_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1507213013992","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/a-zercher"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91357","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":388,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":42,"percentWhite":10,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":71.7,"schoolId":91357,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Edgar Fahs Smith Steam Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Edgar Fahs Smith Steam Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/york-city-school-district/edgar-fahs-smith-middle-school/91357"}
