The days of sitting in desks and chairs that are hard and uncomfortable are gone. It's time to allow students, especially younger students, a chance to choose their seating. Some students learn laying on the floor. Some learn standing at a table. Why make students fit into a one size fits all desk,when it really doesn't fit all? The new furniture such as a futon, lap desks and bean bag chairs, and design will give a homely feel to my room that will entice students to relax, learn, and be themselves during the day. This new design and layout will appeal to all those students who enjoy choices and want to be comfortable while learning. Take a look at Google headquarters. The days of sitting in cubicles and desks are slowly emerging as a dull and dark place to learn and create. Why not start our students out with a more inviting and comforting place to learn? Flexible seating allows for flexible grouping, change in a stagnant environment, and an ability for all learners, regardless of their needs, to choose a spot of comfort and easy to learn during the days here at school.
