Every day, we see the incredible impact of your kindness. The bounce chairs are a daily highlight—our students practically beg to sit in them. They keep them engaged and active, providing a perfect outlet for their energy.\r\nThe STEM toys—especially the robot building kits and pixel challenge—have sparked so much curiosity and learning. They give our students the perfect brain breaks, allowing them to recharge and re-engage with their work. The sensory toys we received are used every single day—they help calm little minds, offering a much-needed sense of comfort and focus.\r\nAnd we can't thank you enough for the snacks—both the healthy options and the sweet and salty treats. They were all used up quickly, and thanks to you, we were able to feed hungry students who arrived at school ready to learn. The pencils and their dispenser have been a lifesaver—there truly can never be too many pencils in a middle school. Due to budget constraints We sectioned off a portion of the playground and did demonstrations as to how the equipment is to be used. We then created groups of students (approximately 5-7 in a group). Each group played with the equipment for 10 minute blocks, and then rotated to the new equipment.\r\n\r\n We are so grateful for the donations. These materials have transformed my office into a more welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment where students feel safe, understood, and motivated to participate. The addition of diverse items has encouraged students to explore their feelings and emotions in a way that feels safe and helpful, while also allowing them to see themselves reflected in the stories, games, and other items they engage with.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tools and fidgets have been especially impactful for students who struggle with focus, emotional regulation, and anxiety. These items provide students with appropriate outlets for movement and self-regulation, allowing them to better manage their emotions and remain present during sessions. As a result, I have seen increased student engagement, improved attention, and a greater willingness to participate in conversations and activities that support their growth.\r\n\r\nOverall, this donation has strengthened my ability to meet the diverse needs of my students in a responsive and compassionate way. It has not only enhanced the quality of support I can provide, but also reinforced to students that their needs matter and that they are worthy of care and investment. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to create a space where students can thrive both emotionally and academically.","fullyFundedDate":1769528742747,"projectUrl":"project/student-trauma-support/10053166/","projectTitle":"Student Trauma Support","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Koles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10416316"},{"teacherId":10416310,"projectId":10058696,"letterContent":"Dear Donors,\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your incredible generosity and support of our school counseling program. Because of you, our space has become more welcoming, comfortable, and supportive for every student who walks through the door. The fidgets and anxiety coloring books have already been powerful tools during sessions, helping students regulate their emotions and open up more freely. The bean bag chairs created an instant sense of calm and safety—students often comment on how the room feels like a place where they can truly relax and refocus.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, their reactions were immediate and genuine. Many were excited to try the fidgets and gravitated toward the new materials without hesitation. Others were drawn to the new books on mental health and began asking thoughtful questions, sparking meaningful conversations about anxiety, emotions, and coping skills. Even the snacks and breakfast bars have made a noticeable difference—students who come in hungry are now able to focus, feel cared for, and engage more fully in their day.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these resources will continue to play a vital role in our counseling lessons and small group work. We continue to build our counseling program around emotional regulation, self-awareness, and coping strategies. Using the books and hands-on tools you provided will be of great value. The bulletin board will highlight important school information, mental health awareness, and student-created content, helping to normalize conversations around feelings and well-being. The mental health posters are a great guide for students to look at to help identify their emotions. They also have a a number of coping strategies to look at to help them through tough times. We are using the pencils, dry-erase markers, snacks, squishies, fidget spinners, and other small incentives to increase their scores on our weekly tests.
