When the materials arrived, students were beyond excited and stated that our pets were going to have an amazing home. Each morning, students come in and ensure the habitat is thoroughly revamped providing a healthy living space for our classroom pets. New blankets are regularly replaced to line the habitat and bedding is put down. Students also feed the guinea pigs fresh timothy hay and specialized pellets as well as replenish water. Throughout the day, students complete their work \"with\" the guinea pigs and discuss their observations of the classroom pets with their peers. The student engagement with the guinea pigs has positively enhanced our classroom environment. Next steps are to include other grade levels in having experiences with the guinea pigs as a positive reward.\r\n\r\nNot only are the students loving the donated items, but Chocolate and Caramel as well. Every donation has made their environment more comfortable and enjoyable. They particularly like napping in the hides and playing with their enrichment toys.
