The children describe it as \"calm,\" \"fun,\" and \"cozy,\" and they love curling up under the canopy to read together or independently.\r\n\r\nThe calm-down corner now includes a soft rug that gives students a comfortable place to reset and self-regulate when they're feeling overwhelmed. It's used daily and provides a safe space for students to take a mindful break from the busyness of the day.\r\n\r\nIn our social skills corner, the rug provides a soft area for learning through play. Students practice important social skills such as turn-taking, sharing, and role-playing in a space that feels inviting and safe.\r\n\r\nFinally, the large classroom rug offers plenty of room for both gross motor activities and Montessori rug work. For our North America continent study in May, the Pin Map and cards helped engage students with learning the names, capitals, and flags of each country in North America. The materials were extremely popular. Additionally, it was wonderful for me to see the kids learning that North America is not just the United States, Canada, and Mexico, but that it also included the many smaller countries in Central America and the Caribbean. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're excited to continue building on this momentum.
