Many students come to school carrying stress, anxiety, or emotional challenges, and having access to calming tools and flexible seating will allow them to regulate their emotions, stay engaged, and feel supported.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the cold weather clothing necessities will help meet some of the basic needs that can often become barriers to learning and emotional well-being. My students were so excited when they first saw these new resources and could not wait to begin exploring them. Their excitement was immediate, and they were eager to dive into our special read-aloud lessons and discussions.\r\n\r\nWe have been using these resources during our literacy block to strengthen comprehension, make text-to-self connections, and build vocabulary. One memorable moment was during a read-aloud discussion when students eagerly shared connections between the story and their own experiences at home and school. Even some of my quieter learners felt confident enough to participate, showing how these resources have helped create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for all reading abilities.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these materials to deepen their understanding through partner discussions, response activities, and projects that connect reading to real-life experiences. Our next step is for students to apply what they are learning by creating personal reading response projects that allow them to reflect, make meaningful connections, and share their ideas creatively. Your generosity has helped build excitement for reading and has given my students opportunities to grow as thoughtful, confident learners.","fullyFundedDate":1774963622729,"projectUrl":"project/copy-paper/10100141/","projectTitle":"Copy Paper","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Horgan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6740546"},{"teacherId":7455308,"projectId":9902640,"letterContent":"On behalf of our first grade students, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of the STEM Building Bridges activity. Your support has made a meaningful and lasting impact on our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe watched our young learners take on the role of engineers, working together to plan, create, and reflect. Students who are often hesitant to participate became confident contributors, sharing ideas and encouraging their peers. The excitement and pride they felt when their bridges held weight or improved after redesign was truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only provided materials, but also sparked curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning that will continue to grow. Experiences like this help lay the foundation for future innovators and problem-solvers.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and for helping us create meaningful, engaging learning opportunities in our classroom. This STEM activity really brought out leadership and confidence in some students who do not excel in reading or math. It was inspiring to see them shine! The students were absolutely thrilled to explore the planets with the Solar System Planetary E Projector. Even though we have completed the lessons, they keep going back to this tool because they have really enjoyed looking at the planets and listening to the descriptions about them. They loved how the picture is displayed on the ceiling. They can't get enough of it. This hands on planetary has provided hands-on engagement and the other materials have lent itself well to sparking their curiosity and thoughtful questions about our solar system. The floor puzzle, paper solar system, and posters, have also been a blessing. We have kept all of these materials up. The class enjoys reading and looking at the huge poster when they a few moments.
