Thanks to you, I have been able to run a \"Brain Olympics\" club in our after school program. The children have fallen in love with Rush Hour, Backgammon, Five Crowns, Mastermind, and Rubik's Race. As they play these games, they are thinking critically and developing strategies that they can use in their math classes. They are also practicing their social and emotional learning skills. It's fantastic to see kids teaching each other how to play the more complicated games as well as observing the interactions across grade levels.\r\n The project that you invested in didn't just give my kids something to do after school, but the gaes and puzzles you funded all require thinking, reasoning, and logic. They are not games of chance and cannot be played mindlessly. I have not hidden from my kids how much it thrills me to see them having fun while thinking. I tease them about this all the time. Playing these types of games and solving the puzzles definitely helped me to develop useful problem solving skills and also helped build my stamina, determination, and perseverance.","fullyFundedDate":1669748596950,"projectUrl":"project/brain-games-to-improve-critical-thinking/7033044/","projectTitle":"Brain Games to Improve Critical Thinking Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Golub","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8850498_orig.jpg?crop=2031,2031,x97,y440&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1669127612660","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8850498"},{"teacherId":2697371,"projectId":8736202,"letterContent":"Thank you for the needed consumable supplies that your donation has provided to our students. Our new curriculum requires the use of Post-it Super Sticky Easel Pad not only for instruction in creating anchor charts in the classroom but also for student collaboration in group and paired settings. Students were able to give and prove evidence from their readings and classroom discussions. The SHARPIE Flip Chart Markers have allowed visibility across the room as well as allowing the students to be creative and have some autonomy in the creation of their charted presentation.\r\n\r\nStudents took class notes, and anecdotal notes on postings and Anchor Charts using Post-it Sticky Notes, during instruction, paired reading, and independent reading.\r\nPost-it Notes allowed each student to be less stressed, wait-time when putting their thoughts together to respond to a task. The Post-it notes are a part of our daily usage. As the year progresses students will continue to use them to complete their narrative writings and comparative writings.\r\n\r\n\r\nPacon Adjustable Chart Stand allows me as the instructor to be mobile within the classroom with my charted presentations. This has been an unbelievable experience by my little loves. It has allowed them to explore avenues of finances that they have never thought of before. While sitting around they were able to discuss their own experiences that they have had being out with their Families. The PCS Communication Symbols were great and inclusive help to the students who needed a push with her communication, especially on community outings. They will be able to be a bit more independent in their communication with various sales representatives.\r\n\r\nMagnetic Money for Kids for Learning, not only helped and supported their occupational needs but made learning fun. They used their imagination with what they were buying and what store that they were able to purchase the items from. The Texas Instruments TI-30Xa 10-Digit Scientific Calculator made the calculations a bit easier for some. They were able to explore other functions and see how the calculator worked for other math problems. Not only did the The Multiplication board reinforce advanced addition skills, the students were able to use it alongside their in-class shopping experience when purchasing more than one item. \r\n\r\nThe Money Activities workbook is amazing because it not only supports math skills but critical things skills and reading skills. Students are able to discuss and discover financial terms, manipulate words to elevate their sentences when they are speaking of money. \r\nMaking mistakes is encouraged. Using the double Sided Small Dry Erase White Boards with Lines made all the class room activities flow with a bit of ease. It minimized frustration because of mistakes and it changed the routine of the pencil and paper.\r\n\r\nKeeping the little loves on task with the Reusable Reward Chart was the icing on the cake!! I almost wished that I had gotten one for each student. We made it work but the individuality of the students' needs and behaviors would have been easier to reward, if each of the students had their own.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made the difference in my students' classroom experience.","fullyFundedDate":1732199751137,"projectUrl":"project/putting-the-financial-puzzle-together/8805861/","projectTitle":"Putting the Financial Puzzle Together","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2697371_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725638541644","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rlsmith52"},{"teacherId":2697371,"projectId":8736079,"letterContent":"My students have been able to use these new resources to enlighten learning.
