Their faces lit up as soon as they saw the LEGO minifigures and Magna-Tiles. Right away, they began building little \"classroom communities\" out of the pieces—creating houses, towers, and even a playground. It was so inspiring to watch them collaborate, problem-solve, and share ideas with so much joy.\r\n\r\nThe Kindness Is My Superpower book has already become a class favorite. We read it together during morning meeting, and it sparked such thoughtful conversations about what kindness looks like in our classroom. Many of my students even referenced it later in the day when reminding each other to be kind!\r\n\r\nThe laminating pouches have helped me create reusable learning materials—like word-building cards and math games—that students can use again and again. This has allowed me to give them more hands-on practice in a way that lasts. And of course, the Mr. Sketch scented markers have been a huge hit for both anchor charts and small-group activities; they make learning smell just a little sweeter!\r\n\r\nEven the snacks you provided have played an important role. They've helped keep my students focused and energized throughout the day, ensuring everyone can fully participate in lessons without distraction.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom feels even more creative, collaborative, and caring. Next, we'll be using the LEGO minifigures and Magna-Tiles to dive into a STEM project where students will design \"dream communities\" that reflect both engineering skills and social values like kindness and teamwork. I can't wait to see their ideas come to life!\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful that you've given us these tools and many more not listed above to learn, grow, and create together.","fullyFundedDate":1748899344978,"projectUrl":"project/a-classroom-in-need/9391030/","projectTitle":"A Classroom in Need!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10048462"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69613","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1529,"numTeachers":82,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":36,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.2,"schoolId":69613,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about New Foundations Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"New Foundations Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/philadelphia-city-school-district/new-foundations-charter-school/69613"}
