They were genuinely blown away that people who don't even know them sent these gifts directly to our classroom.\r\nThese new supplies have completely transformed how our room functions every day. During writing time, students grab the portable lap desks, clipboards, and pencil boxes to spread out across the rug with their writing partners. For math, we use the dry-erase desk dots and clipboards so students can move around the room, solve problems on the go, and easily share their work. During independent reading, kids love grabbing a comfy pillow to settle in with a good book. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who usually gets restless during independent work grab a lap desk and floor pillow, sit in a cozy corner, and stay focused on reading for 20 minutes straight without a single distraction.\r\nNext up, we are using our new lap desks and privacy folders as we start our next math and reading units. Students will be using the desk dots and clipboards for interactive partner review games, and the privacy shields will give them quiet, focused spaces during our upcoming assessments. Watching their eyes go wide as we pulled out the warm string lights, the glowing neon sign, and those bright, soft floor cushions was pure magic. The whole room erupted into happy chatter when they saw the Squishmallows and the trailing green pothos plants, and a few kids immediately ran over to run their fingers along the textured fidget strips stuck to their desks. For seven- and eight-year-olds, seeing that a bunch of kind people took the time to send them a classroom makeover made them feel like the most important kids in the world.\r\n\r\nThese tools have completely transformed how our day flows, especially during center work and independent reading time. Our room turns into a quiet \"reading cafe\" under the dim, warm lights. Kids grab a floor cushion, pop on their new headphones to listen to read-along stories on their Chromebooks, and squeeze a plushie while they read. I also used the hot glue gun to easily hang up our new lights, classroom signs, and student work around the room to make it feel so homey. With this new printer I am able to print out the story pages and now my English learning students will be able to actually see the pictures and better understand the story we are reading in class.
