We set up dedicated centers for Engineering, Science, Plants, and Living vs. Nonliving. For example, in the Engineering center, students are designing and building simple machines using the new kits, which sparked so much excitement and creativity. One memorable moment was when a group of third graders successfully constructed a lever to move small objects—they were so proud of their problem-solving skills!\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up with curiosity. Many exclaimed, \"Wow! We get to build and experiment with these kits!\" Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it really motivated them to dive into the activities with eagerness.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next step for our current project is for students to test their engineering designs and observe how different crystals grow in the science center. We're also planning a comparison activity where students will classify objects as living or nonliving, using the new materials to support their reasoning. These upcoming lessons will deepen their understanding of scientific concepts while fostering hands-on exploration. \r\n\r\nYour generous support has made these engaging, interactive lessons possible, and I can't wait to see how much more my students will learn and discover!","fullyFundedDate":1740853404934,"projectUrl":"project/steam-lab/8986605/","projectTitle":"STEAM Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9857479_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y104&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741079097607","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9857479"},{"teacherId":9848268,"projectId":8968372,"letterContent":"The rug we received for our tutoring room is a wonderful foundation for the 'calming corner' we now have set-up for the students to use on breaks or if they need a minute of space!\r\n\r\nThe games for our tutoring groups have been a huge hit! The students love these because it most definitely breaks us away from traditional worksheets and allows for hands-on and engaging learning. The matching game was one of my kindergarteners groups favorite games to play!\r\n\r\nReceiving new markers, crayons, colorful dry-erase markers is something the students use all day in our sessions! It allows for choices when doing work, adding their own individual personalities to their creations while learning.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for the basics- paper, disinfecting wipes- these go such a LONG way!
