The impact of your kindness was felt immediately in our classroom. Students couldn't wait to begin receiving their \"mail\" each week. We have received four issues so far and are looking forward to receiving more the rest of the year!\r\nWe have used the Time for Kids magazine to learn about how magazines are structured and how the text features, such as captions, insets, charts/diagrams/graphs, subtopics, etc. all contribute to creating something intentional and interesting for readers. Later in the year, students will begin writing their own current event articles or informational pieces. Time for Kids will be used to showcase what that should look like for students.\r\nStudents have enjoyed seeing stories that they can relate to. For instance, we read an article that covered important events from the summer of 2026 and students were relating their summer experiences to those in the article. They experienced history in the making in real time :)\r\nIn the last issue, we were able to utilize the cover story regarding Safe Animal Crossings to create our own posters to help animals. We learned about various road safety signs and used them as inspiration to create our own. \r\nAs an educator, I am grateful to be able to use this resource to help students appreciate different areas of Social Studies. I like the buzz that it creates around civics and current events. The discourse that we have been having is amazing and the growth in student self-confidence is exponential! While most art classrooms come equipped with a sink our classrooms do not always come with that luxury. Baby wipe are a great alternative to cleaning our hands and tables! \r\n\r\nBeing able to create art is a must! Having paper is needed to do that. We have used our copy paper to create handouts for art projects as well as using it to free draw or even our occasional art hub how to draw video.
