On someone's birthday, I fill a cup with play-doh, pencils, treats, a straw, a bracelet, and so much more. I place their birthday crown around his/her cup and have it sitting on their desk when they enter! \r\nI wish you could see the look on the child's face that is having a birthday! It makes their day. We use it daily for when we play calming or creative music, when we participate in fun brain breaks, when we listen to stories or have a fun learning activity. We use it for our movie fun days as well. Before it was difficult to hear when somethings was being shown or played. This year because of you donation we have been able to give children the gift of warmth. If they had a request for clothing of anykind, coats, socks, hoodies, back packs we were able to provide it to them right away. \r\n\r\nThe comfort closet was available for all students at our school and for their siblings. It also provided clothes for events in the community that affected families of our students. My main goal was to remove the barriers for students so they could be ready to learn. I really believe this made an impact on our students and has improved our attendance. My students were so excited to receive their new supplies, especially the headphones, markers, and little composition books. \r\nThe headphones help so much with not only cutting down on the noise of listening to 21 iPad reading and math programs, but it helps the students to hear their own learning program and to be able to focus much better. These programs greatly assist in their learning. \r\nThe mini composition books are being used to promote positivity in the classroom and build confidence among the students. During this time of year, the students get a little restless waiting for spring.
