My district is socio-economically disadvantaged with 97% eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Many times breakfast consists of a toaster waffle, cereal bar or small muffin so by midmorning they are hungry and cannot concentrate. All they can think of is "I'm hungry!" Supplying approved, prepackaged snacks, the kids will able to focus and learn. Also with COVID restrictions, we can't have classroom/shareable toys or toys from home. We do try to have outdoor recess but in there is inclement weather, we must have indoor recess in our classroom. The kids are only allowed to play with the toys that are in their desks. The sand will promote creativity, fine motor skills, social skills, and it is just fun to play with!!
