The children were taught about food webs and the process of an owl's digestion. They were then given a demonstration of how to dissect an owl pellet and how important it was to look at each piece. They understood that they were detectives and each bone was a piece of the puzzle.\r\nAfter removing the bones, students drew conclusions about what prey their animal consumed. We were able to share different skeletal pieces to compare and contrast with our own findings. The students loved this activity! They asked if we could do it again and some said they are going to search for owl pellets near the wooded areas of their houses.
