Jelly beans, goldfish, and granola bars are among the class favorites when it comes to snacks. The clipboard organizers are helping students keep their materials neat and accessible during small-group rotations and independent work, while the desk pets have become a fun and motivating way for students to practice responsibility and focus. When the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement—they were eager to organize their workspaces and couldn't wait to introduce their desk pets to our classroom routines. Two especially memorable moments were watching students carefully set up their organizers and also reminding one another of expectations so they can earn a chance to get more accessories for their desk pets. Thanks to your support, students are now more engaged and prepared as we move into our next reading and writing projects. The students were so excited to participate in baking day before the holiday break. Each student was given cookie mix and other baking themed prizes to take home to practice their math skills. One of the students even brought in some of his baked cookies to share. During our fun-filled day, students practiced multiplication, addition, and subtraction. They were invited to wear aprons from home, and decorate a baking hat in school. \r\nSo many of the students have never had the opportunity to bake cookies at home so this was a real treat for them. Your constant support of our classroom means the world to my students and I. When the boxes arrived, they got right to work creating cards for the Guidance Counselor to have available for students having a bad day. The counselor happily received the cards and promised to put them to good use. With only a few days left of school, she promised to hold onto them for use next school year.\r\n\r\nWe will save our local community project of spreading cheer to a nursing home by making cards for their tables until next school year. We may be able to put it together quickly and deliver them for Grandparent's Day, if not, we will plan for Thanksgiving or Christmas. \r\n\r\nOur final project, we will make cards for our Troops and plan for that around Veteran's Day.
