We opened them together while I shared with them how the Donor's Choose Program works. They were truly touched that people that they did not know, made donations so that they could have the very nice things. \r\n\r\n We have improved our love of reading. The students truly enjoy finding a comfy spot, wearing their headsets, and settling down to read for 15-20 minutes. We now use the ABC rug for whole group instruction. We use the circle spots for independent reading. We use the headsets for independent reading and for work on our computers. The sweeper helps us keep our area clean and it teaches the students to take care of their area.\r\n\r\n We are very thankful for your generosity. They are helping to replace the ones that have been used, broken or misplaced as well as provide for ones who never had any dude to quantity issues. They are helping to provide a vital accommodation to our students who need them badly. They help to minimize distractions, help students hear directions/ tests and assignments aloud and also hear proper inflection and tone when reading from another voice other than the teacher. The students are so excited to have new headphones after having to share for months! As far as the other materials provided, my title one school struggles to provide cleaning materials and we purchase ourselves. When I told them about this project, the students were so excited that they started to cheer. They got more excited every time we received another box of books. So far, we have had two selections. Both days, they couldn't stop smiling and kept asking \"I can keep this?\". They are thrilled to start their own personal libraries and cheered very loud when I told them they would get at least 4 more books this year!\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we read on a daily basis. We read together, in small groups, the students read individually, and we always end the day with a read aloud. Some students are learning to read and some can read on their own. Having books to practice with at home is such a helpful resource for all the students!\r\n\r\nI try to instill a genuine love of books and literacy in every student that walks through my classroom. This group of students is definitely begin to development that love of reading and I hope they will continue to foster that love throughout their lives.
