These six Chromebooks would help lessen student frustrations while enhancing a literacy-rich classroom that we strive to create. Every student in our classroom deserves access to adequate resources that allow them to grow academically. A few years ago, our district mandated special education teachers to implement a literacy program that includes teacher-guided small group instruction, independent reading & an individualized computer program. While the program is sufficient, our technology is not. Our learning support classroom has received old hand-me-down technology since we have started using this program. Often our computers overheat due to cooling fan issues, have volume/keyboard issues, and will only turn on if plugged into the charger 100% of the time. As you can imagine, our technology causes unnecessary student frustrations instead of enhancing learning. With your help on this project to provide six new Chromebooks to my class, our kids will be able to focus their energy on the academic material at hand, and not become overwhelmed by materials that do not function properly. Ultimately, this will result in increase literacy knowledge & a continued desire to learn by our scholars!
