This resource is making a profound difference for my entire class of third graders here at Ramos in our Title I community. Many of my students are reading significantly below grade level and often lack the background knowledge that comes from broad exposure to the world outside our curriculum. Scholastic News provides a bridge, offering engaging, accessible articles that open up new topics and vocabulary. The immediate access to the digital components, especially the fun and informative videos, has been a game-changer for engagement, helping solidify concepts in a way that traditional textbooks simply cannot. Thank you for giving my students the chance to explore beyond the classroom walls and build this vital foundation of world knowledge.\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic benefits, the impact of Scholastic News is truly extending into our students' homes. They absolutely love receiving their own magazines, and the excitement comes from knowing they can take the issue home to share their new learning with their families. This simple act of sharing creates a critical link, connecting the classroom experience directly to the family, which is especially meaningful in our community. Your support has not just funded a magazine subscription; it has empowered these young learners to become informed citizens and excited readers. Students now have the tools they need to explore their artistic abilities without hesitation.\r\n\r\nImproving Communication and Understanding\r\n\r\nBeyond art, these tools have become essential instruments for structured learning and communication. The new collection of books has become an invaluable resource that elevates both musical and foundational literacy in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWe have immediately integrated these books into our daily instruction to reinforce concepts like rhythm, instrument families, and music history. These texts serve as a highly effective teaching tool, allowing younger students to explore music through narrative and providing older students with engaging material for independent study and learning centers. The collection has also proven to be a vital asset for maintaining productive, curriculum-aligned lessons when a substitute teacher is present.\r\n\r\nThe most significant impact of your support is the direct link it creates between music education and enhanced reading skills. By making literature central to our music room, we are simultaneously deepening their musical understanding and actively promoting stronger reading comprehension and vocabulary. This investment directly supports the development of well-rounded, literate students.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful for your support of this cross-curricular educational approach.","fullyFundedDate":1755721923788,"projectUrl":"project/rhythm-and-reads-fueling-minds-in-the-m/9513587/","projectTitle":"Rhythm and Reads: Fueling Minds in the Music Room!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Weitzel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9712262_orig.jpg?crop=2163,2163,x752,y752&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754505943366","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9712262"},{"teacherId":9712262,"projectId":9249627,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to our project. The items you donated, such as the headphones, whiteboard markers, and a wealth of books for both independent reading and read-aloud lessons, have transformed the classroom environment. These resources have not only enhanced engagement but have also allowed our students to explore literature in new and exciting ways. The books, in particular, have inspired a love for reading, and it's been incredible to see students eagerly dive into stories during their independent reading time.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the Teacher Pay Teachers gift card you provided has been invaluable in supporting both student learning and teacher preparation. It funded a Martin Luther King Jr. writing assignment that allowed students to explore history in a meaningful, creative way. It also supported a self-reflection activity for our student-led conferences, helping students to take ownership of their learning and personal growth. The supplemental materials we've been able to access through Teacher Pay Teachers have provided a wealth of resources to support our core curriculum and meet the unique needs of our students.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have allowed students to engage with digital content without distractions, and they've been especially helpful for students who benefit from auditory learning. Meanwhile, the whiteboard markers have encouraged active participation in lessons, with students excited to demonstrate their understanding during interactive classroom discussions. These resources have helped create an environment where every student can thrive.\r\n\r\nWe are so excited to see how these items have supported our students' growth and development. Some students have really come alive in the classroom, whether it's through their improved reading skills, their increased confidence in sharing their ideas, or their ability to reflect on their learning journey. It's been amazing to see their engagement soar, and that's all thanks to your generous donations.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create a learning environment where students are empowered, excited, and inspired to learn. I asked for a card for Teachers Pay Teachers, and you kindly funded this for us. \r\n\r\nOur curriculums are decided on by our school district. Many times our students abilities are not taken into consideration. I teach third grade in a title one school. My class of 27 is made up of mostly ELL students and LS. We do a lot of supplementing to make our curriculums more interesting, and understandable for our students this all comes at our expense. Supplementing allows my students to work on their level, and allows them to feel successful. \r\n\r\nThe quizzes for Benchmark allowed my students a review for their unit test. I use them as a whole class lesson. This gives them confidence before taking their Unit tests.\r\n\r\nI also purchased things that students enjoy to do, to try and add a little fun all while learning at the same time. My students love to be able to color, and be creative -something our curriculums do not provide space for. This card allowed me to purchase these activities. \r\n\r\nWith your generous donations I have been able to so far purchase things to supplement our reading and math programs. As well as some (fun) writing activities. I still have some left and plan on using it to supplement our science and social studies.","fullyFundedDate":1727297512103,"projectUrl":"project/teachers-pay-teachers-to-help-all-studen/8782910/","projectTitle":"Teachers Pay Teachers to Help All Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Quinn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8941213_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1674688382217","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8941213"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90196","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":695,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":77,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.0,"schoolId":90196,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Luis A Ramos Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Luis A Ramos Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/allentown-city-school-district/jackson-elementary-school/90196"}
