It's a time where everything slows down and we get to sit down as a classroom family and build a love of reading together. We read for enjoyment. We read to learn strategies. We read to learn social skills and strategies to help us grow as individuals and as scholars. We read because it's fun!\r\n\r\nThese books feature some beloved characters and themes that we read every year that get students extremely excited to listen to stories read aloud and to motivate them to learn to read independently.\r\n\r\nMy students are excited to see what characters like the crayons are up to in each book. They develop a love of unicorns. Each book, presenting a magical world full of wonder and possibility. They love seeing what the unicorns do and the different take that each author has on unicorns. They love the bright, bold illustrations. These illustrations inspire them to add more detail to their own illustrations.\r\n\r\nThese authors that write books based on beloved characters get my students excited to learn more about characters and to feature their own characters in their own stories.\r\n\r\nThere are some characters featuring how to understand the feelings of yourself and others and how to self regulate so you can be the best that you can be.\r\n\r\nThere are also some plush characters that go along with the books so students can use them to retell and read the stories when they are building their reading stamina.\r\n\r\nThank you for fully funding our project. These books were excellent additions to our collection and allowed us to extend our thematic reading which is of high interest to students so students develop their love of reading! They had a great time interacting with these characters during read aloud time and loved the plushies representing the crayons in our stories. We a really appreciate your support and helping us to get these books into our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1733348147266,"projectUrl":"project/reading-for-me-is-spending-time-with-a/8838285/","projectTitle":"“Reading For Me Is Spending Time With A Friend.” GP","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Michetti-Frank","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2406869_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1503546201234","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/missmichetti"},{"teacherId":2406869,"projectId":8838239,"letterContent":"These books were selected to represent the little faces looking back at me as I read to them each day.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for fully funding this project so I can provide my students with read aloud a in a classroom environment built on confidence, respect, love, kindness and empathy.\r\n\r\nThere has been an even greater push for social/emotional learning since covid.
