When I explained where our materials came from, I told them that they were from \"neighbors who think our learning is so important and want us to have everything we need to do our best work\". I think it is important for you to know that one of my students response to that was \"That makes me feel like they really care about us\". So not only have you contributed to their academic growth, but you have also contributed to their sense of self, them having a feeling of importance, and feeling cared for.\r\n\r\nThe writing desk has quickly gone from a lesser used interest area of our classroom to a space that is in high demand! Being able to provide my students with such a fun variety of writing tools and literacy activities has been what has made the difference. They are excited to write their name, their friends' names, names of people in their family, and the names of the teachers! And not only have writing skills improved but so have letter recognition skills.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you! As we looked through our new puppets it was so wonderful to hear things like \"That is me!\" when they saw a puppet that resembled themselves and to hear them notice that a puppet resembled one of their peers. Then as they looked through different multi-cultural dress-up clothes, they identified clothes they were familiar with their families wearing whether it was as daily wear or for celebrations.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to be able to provide my students with classroom materials that not only enhance their learning but also make them feel important and seen. As we looked through all of the community helper dress-up clothes, they had so much fun naming all the occupations that corresponded with clothing and hats.\r\n\r\nSince receiving their new items, there has not been a day where they have not been used. Having these materials has helped them to expand upon their play and they have been developing their language skills as we talk about different community helpers and the types of work the people who do those jobs do.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you.
