Because of your generosity, our project was fully funded, and our students now have access to several of the books we are reading for the Oregon Battle of the Books competition.\r\nRight now, our class is reading 'Better with Butter', and it has been such a joy to watch students dive into the story together. Having enough copies for everyone means students can read alongside their classmates, discuss ideas, laugh at favorite moments, and truly go on adventures through literature as a community. These shared reading experiences have made our classroom feel more connected and excited about books.\r\nMost importantly, your support has helped students find joy in reading. They are reading more, talking about stories more, and discovering that books can be exciting, meaningful, and fun. That kind of enthusiasm is priceless, and it wouldn't be possible without you.\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for investing in their love of reading. Thanks to these class sets of chapter books, all of our students have been able to read together and fully participate in Oregon Battle of the Books. Reading as a group has created a shared experience that has strengthened our classroom community and made reading something students genuinely look forward to each day.\r\n\r\nOur third graders are diving into exciting adventures, exploring new perspectives, and learning important history, and they're talking about it! We've had engaging, thoughtful discussions where students share ideas, make connections, and build on one another's thinking. Their enthusiasm and confidence as readers have grown tremendously.\r\n\r\nWe've loved reading these books together and are so excited to finish them and compete in the trivia contest. With your help, we were able to get a new easel, bins for organization, and a play kitchen. These items greatly enriched my students' learning experience this year!\r\n\r\nThe easel was used for a variety of activities and subjects. During calendar, we used the easel along with a pocket chart to collect data. During writing, we used the easel along with chart paper to model writing and complete collaborative writing. It was an ideal size for my students to be able to reach and record information.\r\n\r\nThe organization bins were used for phonics instruction. Each table had a corresponding color bin. In the bin we stored mini whiteboards, erasers, and dry erase markers. During the dictation part of instruction, our table captains would go to the bins, bring them to their tables, and pass the materials out to their classmates. In this way, my students developed responsibility and it helped keep us quick and organized.\r\n\r\nMy students were ecstatic to see we had a new play kitchen! We didn't have one before because my old one was too worn. One student in particular always asked about one because her older sister had one in kindergarten. Well, once the package arrived, I assembled it after school and surprised them the next day. They were delighted to play with their classmates and used it everyday at play time.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my classroom. I will use these items for many years to come, and each class will benefit from your donation.","fullyFundedDate":1735336029112,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-and-play/8868102/","projectTitle":"Literacy and Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lo'Re","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8647177"},{"teacherId":8449677,"projectId":9133527,"letterContent":"Students are so grateful for the supplies we have received. The books you donated on the 50 states and Native American history made such a difference in my classroom. My students loved diving into their research, and these books gave them a real sense of excitement about learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of this project was seeing how much my students enjoyed the creative process. They had so much fun with hands-on learning, from researching their states to putting together their posters and creating salt dough maps. At our Family Literacy Night, their hard work came to life through these displays, along with performances of patriotic songs and a square dance. Seeing their excitement and pride as they shared their projects with families was truly special.\r\n\r\nWe didn't get time to create monument statues, but I'm excited to bring in air-dry clay for future projects.
