It amazes me how exciting a little sparkle and color is for these amazing kiddos; their faces literally light up with joy whenever I reach for our cute containers of pretty gel pens.\r\n\r\nAs we have started a new science comic project about the water cycle, enthusiastic young scientists keep bounding up to me, asking if they get to use the markers and gel pens for their water cycle story.\r\n\r\nYour support means the world to our classroom! I was surprised that one of the favorite stations was the three-dimensional model of an ear. Students were fascinated with the removable eardrum and inner ear parts. They were intrigued to notice how long the ear canal is, and I believe it helped them visualize the movement of sound waves extremely well.\r\n\r\nAnother favorite station was the pepper and plastic wrap station. Students loved banging the wood spatula on the metal bowl to see pepper jump as sound waves traveled from the metal bowl across the film. They were highly entertained with the vibrating pepper, which also helped them understand how invisible sound waves could be moving through space.\r\n\r\nGiving students opportunities to choose their own science adventure excites and energizes them, especially with a science concept that can be very abstract and difficult to understand.\r\n\r\nWe appreciate your support for our science classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1757618181355,"projectUrl":"project/sound-wave-science/9683676/","projectTitle":"Sound Wave Science","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tobler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6850606_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1569431187187","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-tobler-science"},{"teacherId":10244956,"projectId":9690674,"letterContent":"It has been so lovely to have such a wealth of snacks to choose from to hand out to my students so far this year! Sometimes everyone gets a snack during independent work time, which I find helps keep them happily occupied while they work on a particular assignment. And sometimes I use the snacks as a reward for turning in homework or doing well on a particular review game. And, of course, the chips and fruit snacks are a popular choice for the lucky students who get picked (by raffle ticket) to choose something from the Friday store :D\r\n\r\nFor this project I got a huge assortment of different snacks, because I was curious to see which ones my students liked best. As mentioned above, their favorite is any kind of chip (they loooved the mini Pringles cans, which went like wildfire!). Goldfish crackers and popcorn are a close second, and then fruit snacks too. \r\n\r\nBut, really, again, it just has been so nice for me to have so many different kinds of snacks to choose from, to change things up taste-bud-wise as well as feel like I can be generous and hand snacks out without worrying about having to run to the store often to replenish.
