The materials came in before the students began so I was able to have all the new Crayola twistable crayons and colored pencils waiting for them in our art center. I just recently showed them these as an option and they are thrilled with an option that won't need to be sharpened. I was also able to add the grey crayons to their crayon houses, which they keep in their desks. \r\nWe earn starries in our class when the whole class, or most of the class, is following our class agreements. We are one starry away from earning a celebration. We have brainstormed 7 options for our celebrations. The Plinko game is how we will determine which one we will get. What seems like a basic supply for a classroom, really is not. As you know, teachers often purchase basic supplies for their own classroom, otherwise we would have to do without. Having nice quality pencil sharpeners has made a big difference.\r\n\r\nThe students have been able to use our colored pencils more for highlighting their work, editing writing, or showing various fractions in different colors. Normally, colored pencils break easily and there are never enough sharpeners for students to use to sharpen as they go. The wobble stools have made a great impact on my classroom. The kids were SO excited when they first saw the stools, and the excitement hasn't really died down at all since. Pretty much all of my kids have enjoyed using the wobble stools at various points throughout the day, but a few kids in particular have really benefited from having the stools. Being able to move around while listening to whole-group lessons and while working independently has made a huge difference for a few kids who used to struggle more with engagement. The ability to adjust the height on some of the stools has been crucial as well.
