They have been a HUGE hit! \r\n\r\nThank you to donors who invested in our idea. We are thrilled with the interest and the sharing of stickers schoolwide. It was so POWERFUL to feel the overwhelming support as a professional. I've never put one of these together before, and it meant so much to have immediate and overwhelming support. And, students are always (always) willing to eat snacks. They are grateful and gracious.\r\n\r\nAs the boxes arrived, there was a lot of excitement to open the snacks (and a need to pull a few out for immediate consumption and hide the rest!) Thanks to your generosity, my freshmen students now have access to a variety of fidget toys, along with organized storage boxes to keep them readily available. These resources have made a noticeable difference in our classroom environment.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment my students saw the fidget toys, their excitement was palpable. They eagerly explored the different textures and designs, and many immediately gravitated toward the ones that helped them stay engaged. Over the past few weeks, I've seen a positive impact—students who previously struggled with focus are now better able to stay on task during instruction and classwork. One particular moment stands out: during an independent reading activity, I noticed a student who typically fidgets with their pencil using a sensory ring instead. They were more engaged and participated in the discussion afterward with thoughtful insights—something they had struggled with before.\r\n\r\nOf course, we are still learning how to use these tools appropriately. Some students get distracted by them, but we are working together to establish guidelines for responsible use. This process has sparked meaningful conversations about self-regulation and finding strategies that support individual learning needs.","fullyFundedDate":1731003973395,"projectUrl":"project/fidget-tools-for-focus-empowering-learn/8810451/","projectTitle":"Fidget Tools for Focus: Empowering Learning Through Sensory Support","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wallace Knight","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2033799_orig.jpg?crop=1536,1536,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727402355205","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2033799"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88238","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":896,"numTeachers":58,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":41,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.2,"schoolId":88238,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Benson Polytechnic High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Benson Polytechnic High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/portland-public-schools/benson-high-school/88238"}
