LGBTQ high school students are at risk for suicide, bullying, and harrassment. This book group will bring LGBTQ youth together for a positive read. This book, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, is a heartwarming read of how two young people overcame both internalized and external homophobia, came to terms with their own identity, and successfully negotiated high school. This healthy example of LGBTQ students thriving to counteract the very tragic news and statistics that have come out about LGBTQ youth and suicide. We will read the book, then come together for a discussion, and talk about how role models can change outcomes.
