Because of your support, our Mindful Art elective became the highlight of the week for my students.\r\n\r\nIt was amazing to watch our K-4th graders—who represent a wide range of ages and energy levels—come together in such a peaceful way. As soon as the art materials came out, a wave of calm and focus settled over the students.\r\n\r\nThe modeling clay was a huge hit! The students loved the sensory experience of \"waking up\" the clay, rolling it between their palms to warm it up before shaping their pinch pots. There is something truly meditative about that process that grounded even my most high-energy learners.\r\n\r\nBeyond the art itself, these materials became a tool for teaching kindness. Because we were sharing supplies, the students practiced using polite language to ask for what they needed and showed impressive patience while waiting for materials to be passed out. Watching a 4th grader patiently help a Kindergartener with their clay was a beautiful side effect of this project that I hadn't fully anticipated.\r\n\r\nWhen I told the class that people they had never met—kind strangers—wanted them to have these supplies because they believed in their creativity, the kids were genuinely touched. They felt special and seen.\r\n\r\nThank you for providing the \"magic\" that made this elective possible. You've helped these students discover that they have the power to create their own calm.\r\n\r\nWith deep gratitude,","fullyFundedDate":1771026931243,"projectUrl":"project/the-chill-zone-yoga-and-mindful-art/10081500/","projectTitle":"The Chill Zone: Yoga and Mindful Art","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ennis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5025379_orig.jpg?crop=288,288,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746657836227","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5025379"},{"teacherId":9848815,"projectId":9472682,"letterContent":"Thank you for your aid in supporting putting snacks in the hands/bellies of my students. Thanks to your support, I was able to complete my yoga teacher training and officially earn my Yoga Teacher Certification from Yoga Alliance!\r\n\r\nWith this new knowledge, I have had the joy of teaching yoga and mindfulness to students in grades 2–5. They absolutely loved learning new poses, exploring mindfulness techniques, and especially practicing partner poses with one another—it was a highlight of our sessions!\r\n\r\nI also shared these practices with my fellow teachers, helping them find moments of calm and self-care during their demanding days. Your support made a lasting impact on our students and sparked a deep curiosity about birds and the natural world.\r\n\r\nWith the binoculars and tools, students were able to observe birds closely and apply their knowledge during our field trip. It was wonderful to see them so engaged, identifying species and making connections to what they've learned in class.\r\n\r\nThe owl pellets were a particular highlight—students were fascinated as they carefully dissected them and discovered the tiny bones inside. Many of them were amazed to find skulls and other skeletal parts, and it led to some truly enthusiastic discussions and questions.\r\n\r\nInspired by all of this, our students have also been drawing detailed pictures of birds, showing off what they've observed and learned.
