We have been learning how to write meaningful letters, ask thoughtful questions, share about our lives, and communicate with students who may live very differently from us. The excitement in our classroom has been incredible. My students actually ask every day if it is time to work on our letters! One of my favorite moments has been watching students carefully decide what they want to share and then getting so excited about the possibility of receiving a letter back. This project has made writing feel purposeful and exciting for them.\r\n\r\nMy students were SO excited when they first saw everything! It felt like Christmas morning! They immediately wanted to know who they would be writing to, where the other students lived, and when they would get a letter back. They were especially excited to have a real reason to practice their writing skills. Instead of seeing writing as just another assignment, they see it as a way to make a connection with someone new. Their enthusiasm has been so much fun to watch, and they continue to ask to work on the project every day!\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue writing and sending letters to our pen pals while learning more about the different states and communities represented in our project. We will be practicing organizing our ideas, asking and answering questions, and using details to make our writing more engaging. As letters begin arriving, we will also read and discuss them as a class, compare our experiences with those of our pen pals, and use what we learn to build our next letters. I am excited to see how this project continues to grow throughout the school year and how many connections my students will make along the way!","fullyFundedDate":1788147188010,"projectUrl":"project/pen-pal-adventures/10561154/","projectTitle":"Pen Pal Adventures","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. May","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8314100_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1788129778458","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8314100"},{"teacherId":1501285,"projectId":9999993,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to my project.
