The new 40-inch Roku TV and ergonomic massage chair have already made a positive impact on our classroom. The TV has become an essential instructional tool that allows me to display lessons, videos, maps, reading passages, graphic organizers, and examples in a way that is easy for every student to see and understand. Whether we are analyzing a text in ELA or exploring different regions of the world in Geography, students are more engaged because the visuals bring our lessons to life. One memorable moment occurred when students were studying narrative elements and could see examples projected clearly for the entire class. The increased visibility helped students participate more actively in discussions and made it easier for them to connect concepts to real-world examples.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new resources, their excitement was immediate. Many commented on how welcoming and comfortable the classroom felt. The massage chair quickly became a favorite feature, serving as a special seating option and a place where students can briefly reset and refocus when needed. Middle school students often come to class carrying stress, distractions, or worries from outside of school. Having a comfortable and calming space available has helped students transition into learning more successfully. The chair has also been appreciated by classroom visitors and support staff who work with students throughout the day. Together, these resources have contributed to a classroom atmosphere where students feel valued, supported, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these materials will play an important role in future lessons and projects. Students will use the TV to view presentations, participate in interactive learning activities, analyze texts, and explore multimedia resources that deepen their understanding of academic content. The comfortable classroom environment created through this project will continue encouraging collaboration, engagement, and positive classroom relationships. Your generosity has provided much more than equipment—you have helped create a space where students feel excited to come to class, take academic risks, and build confidence in their abilities. Using the binding machine and supplies from our \"Bound for Success\" project, I was able to create yearlong workbooks that keep vocabulary lessons, reading strategies, grammar notes, writing activities, and classroom resources all in one place. Instead of managing stacks of loose papers, students can quickly find what they need and focus on learning. This has been especially helpful for students who struggle with organization, as they now have a dependable resource they can use every day.\r\n\r\nThe workbooks also support the technology we use in our classroom. Students regularly work on digital learning programs and online activities, and their workbooks provide a place to record notes, track goals, organize vocabulary, and respond to reading assignments. By combining hands-on learning with digital resources, students are more engaged and better able to retain information. Many students have commented on how much they enjoy having a workbook that looks and feels like a real learning tool, and they take pride in keeping it organized and up to date.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the greatest impact has been the confidence these workbooks have given my students. Several of my struggling readers and students who often misplaced assignments are now more independent because they know exactly where to find their notes and resources. They participate more in class discussions, complete assignments more consistently, and can easily review previous lessons when they need support. What may seem like a simple classroom resource has become a powerful tool for helping students take ownership of their learning. The variety of texts gives my 7th grade students opportunities to explore suspense, fantasy, adventure, romance, classic literature, characterization, theme, conflict, point of view, vocabulary, and author's craft. As we read, students are learning to make inferences, support their thinking with text evidence, analyze characters and their decisions, identify themes, and recognize how an author's word choice and writing style affect a story. Having access to different levels, genres, and authors is especially important because my students come to me with very different reading abilities and interests.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom looks different for every student. Some students read independently, some read quietly alongside a partner, and others benefit from listening to a read-along while following the text. The most exciting part has been watching students who do not normally consider themselves \"readers\" become interested in a book because they finally found a story that caught their attention. The Natasha Preston books have been especially appealing to students who enjoy suspense and want to keep turning the pages, while the Tolkien and Jane Austen collections give students an opportunity to experience classic and influential literature they may not otherwise choose on their own. My goal is not simply to have students finish books; it is to help them discover that there is a book somewhere that can make them want to keep reading.","fullyFundedDate":1778075817417,"projectUrl":"project/from-middle-earth-to-manners-books-that/10092672/","projectTitle":"From Middle-Earth to Manners: Books That Build Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8310112_orig.png?crop=1121,1121,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779215075014","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8310112"},{"teacherId":8310112,"projectId":10093983,"letterContent":"This project has already made a meaningful difference in my classroom by allowing me to create durable, hands-on learning materials that my students can use again and again. The laminator and supplies have helped me turn ordinary worksheets, reading activities, vocabulary practice, games, and learning tools into materials that can withstand daily classroom use. Instead of students simply completing a worksheet and moving on, I can create reusable activities that allow them to practice skills multiple times and in different ways. The colorful cardstock has also helped me make materials more visually appealing and easier for students to recognize and organize.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is seeing their learning become something they can actually interact with. They enjoy using colorful, durable cards and activities rather than always working from a textbook or a plain sheet of paper. This has been especially helpful for students who struggle with reading or need additional practice because I can create simplified, visual activities that meet them where they are without making them feel singled out. Students who are hesitant to participate in traditional assignments are often much more willing to pick up a card, move pieces around, practice a skill with a partner, or try an activity more than once. These materials have helped me create a classroom where learning feels more approachable, active, and achievable for every student.","fullyFundedDate":1778227181036,"projectUrl":"project/durable-learning-materials-for-an-engage/10093983/","projectTitle":"Durable Learning Materials for an Engaged Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8310112_orig.png?crop=1121,1121,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779215075014","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8310112"},{"teacherId":8310112,"projectId":10280926,"letterContent":"Thank You for Supporting Our Classroom!\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom has become a more engaging, comfortable, and positive learning environment for my 7th-grade students. The resources you provided have been integrated into our daily routines and have already made a noticeable difference. One of the first items students noticed was the large digital wall clock. It has helped students stay aware of time during independent reading, group activities, and transitions between tasks. The colorful display immediately caught their attention, and students often commented on how much easier it was to keep track of class expectations and deadlines. The chair bands have been especially beneficial for students who need movement while learning. Several students who typically struggle to remain focused are now able to quietly move their feet while continuing to participate in lessons, discussions, and reading activities. This simple addition has helped create a calmer learning environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nThe classroom décor items have also had a powerful impact on our students. When the new bulletin board materials and growth mindset poster were displayed, students were excited to see the classroom transformed into a more welcoming and encouraging space. The cursive bulletin board set has become a helpful visual reference during writing activities, while the colorful borders have brightened our learning areas and helped showcase student work. One of the most meaningful additions has been the \"Power of Yet\" poster. During discussions about perseverance and growth mindset, students frequently reference the poster and remind one another that they may not understand something yet, but they can continue learning and improving. Seeing students adopt that language in their everyday conversations has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward this school year, these resources will continue supporting both academic and social-emotional growth. Students are currently working on reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary development while building confidence as learners. The flexible seating supports and positive classroom environment help students stay engaged as they tackle increasingly challenging texts and assignments. We are also beginning several collaborative projects where students will read, discuss, and present their learning to classmates. The comfortable, organized, and encouraging classroom environment made possible by your donations helps students feel safe taking academic risks and sharing their ideas.
