By giving students options in seating, individual learning and physical needs are met. My students are currently working on a tile floor, under tables and desks while using clipboards. Flexible seating will allow students to make choices that are comfortable for them. During independent classwork times students choose a location in the classroom that works best for them. They always make a good choice. I know that being comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have seen a marked difference academically and in behavior when students are given opportunities to choose seating other than a desk and chair.
