While I've been a teacher for twelve years, I believe that I still have much to learn. To that end, I chose books that were relevant to the students I teach. \r\n\r\nFirst, I chose a book about dealing with challenging behaviors. We deal extensively with kids that act out, and this book will give me the tools to handle the behaviors with grace. I will also be able to help students grow and express themselves without resorting to acting out.\r\n\r\nSecond, I chose several books about being trauma responsive. Most of our students have gone through major trauma. This includes a 12-year-old dying from a fireworks accident and a 13-year-old being killed in a random drive-by shooting. Our students are hurting, and I want to be able to support them as best I can.\r\n\r\nThird, I chose books dealing with grading with equity in mind. I want to accurately assign scores and, most importantly, give relevant and helpful feedback to the students.\r\n\r\nYour generous donation made this possible and will touch students for years to come.
