Our district has over a 70% poverty rate, which this year qualified all of our students for free breakfast and lunches provided to them. This project has helped me be able to supplement snacks for students in between classes who may have missed breakfast or lunch. We also have a few students who have specific food allergies, and when their meals or snacks from teachers contain things that they can't have, I am able to get them something that they can eat. \r\n\r\nThese snacks also help during testing times, especially during state testing and ACT sessions. We know that student's brains and bodies work better when they have some kind of food in their system versus skipping a meal or snack. The students have been so excited to have a selection of small snacks to pick from and take home over the weekends and holidays if needed. They are small enough in size that it is discreet and other classmates can't tell they have them in their bags.","fullyFundedDate":1757684447257,"projectUrl":"project/strother-food-for-thought/9263537/","projectTitle":"Strother Food for Thought","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9843840_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745249066777","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9843840"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87293","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":123,"numTeachers":7,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":21,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":40.0,"schoolId":87293,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Strother High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Strother High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/strother-school-district-14/strother-junior-senior-high-school/87293"}
