Many of them immediately asked when they could take a snack on our next adventure. What may seem like a small resource made a big difference to my students because they knew they would have something to eat during the long bus rides and busy days away from school. Their excitement and appreciation reminded me how meaningful it can be to provide something as simple as a snack.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have become an important part of our field-trip experiences. Students are able to grab a snack during long bus rides or between activities, helping them stay energized and focused throughout the day. Instead of worrying about being hungry, they can concentrate on the museums, historical sites, cultural experiences, and hands-on learning opportunities we visit. I have seen students share snacks with classmates and make sure everyone has something to eat, which has also encouraged kindness and a sense of community.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to the donors who helped make these resources possible. Your generosity has helped remove one more barrier to learning and has allowed my students to fully enjoy educational experiences outside the classroom. Every snack represents more than food—it represents an opportunity for my students to explore, learn, ask questions, make memories, and experience the world beyond our school. The feminine pads and tampons purchased through DonorsChoose are available to students who unexpectedly need them during the school day. For many of our girls, having access to these supplies means they no longer have to worry about what to do when their period starts unexpectedly or when they don't have the supplies they need. Instead of feeling embarrassed, anxious, or having to miss class, they can quietly come to me and receive what they need with dignity.\r\n\r\nI have already seen how much these simple supplies can mean to a student. One student came to me looking nervous and embarrassed because she had started her period and didn't have anything with her. When I was able to hand her the supplies she needed, her entire expression changed. She smiled, thanked me, and said she was so relieved that she didn't have to go home or worry about getting through the rest of the school day. Another student was hesitant to ask for help at first, but after receiving supplies, she told me how thankful she was that our school had a place where girls could get what they needed without feeling embarrassed. Those moments reminded me that something as simple as a package of pads or tampons can make a huge difference in a young girl's day.\r\n\r\nThese resources are about so much more than feminine hygiene products. They are about making sure our girls feel safe, supported, and cared for at school. Middle school can already be an uncomfortable and emotional time, and worrying about having an accident or not having the necessary supplies should never be something that keeps a student from learning. By providing these resources, I can help remove one more obstacle between my students and their education. Our girls know that they can come to me when they need help, and they don't have to feel ashamed or embarrassed.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me take care of every middle school girl who needs a little extra support. Your donation has given our students more than pads and tampons—it has given them peace of mind, confidence, and the reassurance that someone cares about them. I am incredibly grateful that you chose to invest in our students and help me create a school environment where every girl can walk into the classroom feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1787187907341,"projectUrl":"project/meeting-basic-needs-for-every-middle-sch/10394217/","projectTitle":"Meeting Basic Needs for Every Middle School Girl!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp150822_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1551196225423","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/150822"},{"teacherId":150822,"projectId":9987293,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support of our \"Snacks that Support Learning and Kindness\" project. For many students, hunger can be a real barrier to learning, making it difficult to concentrate, participate, and stay engaged. Your kindness has helped remove that obstacle, allowing students to feel more comfortable, focused, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nBeyond meeting a basic need, these snacks have also helped foster a culture of care and kindness in our classroom. Students are learning the importance of sharing, empathy, and looking out for one another. Having snacks readily available has allowed me to create moments where students can reset, refocus, and return to learning with a positive mindset. This has led to improved behavior, stronger relationships, and a more supportive classroom environment overall.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is making a meaningful difference in our students' daily lives. By supporting this project, you are not only nourishing their bodies but also encouraging a sense of belonging and compassion that will stay with them far beyond the classroom.
