I gave my students a writing project in which they were first to complete an illustration by creating something that just had a pair of eyes! They had so much fun with this. There were some crazy things created! My favorite was a frog with a huge bump on his head. Then the students were to write a paragraph describing what they illustrated! It has been my favorite assignment to date this year. These boards, erasers, and markers make the lesson fun for the students, but they also give me instant feedback on who is getting the concept and who isn't. You know, having a varied level of reading books is very important because all students do not read at the same level. Also, sometimes, kids just want to read a short story. \r\n\r\nMy students told me when I was opening the packages and showing the books to them, that it felt like Christmas or their birthday! They were already picking out the books they wanted to read first!\r\n\r\nIn the spring semester, we plan to write our own children's books. That is where the laminating film comes into play. I will laminate each child's book that they have written, and we will put them in our classroom library to share with everyone.
