We are in need of a reading center. I am requesting comfortable seating, a group table, and a group rug for my 5th-grade classroom at Wilson Elementary. The comfortable seating materials will make a difference in my students' learning because they will be excited when it is time to read. The more that students read, the more successful they will be in school overall. A successful reading center could change their lives forever by instilling in them a love for reading. The group table will allow me to work with small groups of 3-6 students. Together, we will practice skills in comprehension, inference, vocabulary and so much more. Working in small groups will allow me to serve my students on a more personal basis. The group rug will serve two purposes. The first purpose that the group rug will serve is to provide a place for the class to come together for discussions, live reading, and dramatic interpretations of stories. The second purpose of the group rug is to provide a comfortable spot for students to sit or lay while reading.
