Along the way, they have learned that good design is not about making something \"perfect\" — it is about listening to the person you are designing for, solving problems, revising ideas, and creating something with purpose.\r\n\r\nThe excitement really grew when students realized they were actually going to sew and stuff their own designs. For many of them, this was their first experience working with fabric, patterns, sewing, or creating a three-dimensional product from a drawing. There have been crooked seams, unexpected design changes, plenty of problem-solving, and lots of moments where students have had to figure out how to make an idea work in real life. Those moments have become some of the most valuable parts of the project because students are learning persistence and realizing that mistakes are simply part of the design process.\r\n\r\nOur next step is one of the best parts: finishing the dolls and getting them into the hands of the young clients who inspired them. Students will evaluate how well their final product meets their client's wants and needs and reflect on what they learned throughout the design process. They've been especially helpful as we've explored special right triangles and working with circles. Being able to construct figures in real time on the board (accurately and clearly) has helped students better visualize concepts like angle measures, side ratios, and how a compass creates consistent radii.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment was during a lesson on special right triangles, when students could clearly see how the side lengths relate as I constructed and labeled the triangle step-by-step.
