Many people use technology daily, but not everyone gets to see how it transforms learning for students. For my class, these calculators have opened the door to true hands-on exploration — instead of just solving problems on paper, students can now visualize functions, experiment with real data, and instantly see how changing one value affects an entire graph. It has made math more interactive, engaging, and real.\r\n\r\nWhat has excited students the most is the ability to explore and discover on their own. When they graph a situation and see the results right in front of them, the lightbulbs really turn on. We've already started doing small \"math labs\" where students input real-world numbers, test ideas, and work together to make sense of what they're seeing. They feel more like mathematicians than ever.\r\n\r\nSome students who normally struggle with abstract concepts have especially taken to the calculators. Others that are more advanced love pushing buttons, exploring features, and showing their classmates what they've figured out. The calculators have become a tool that supports every kind of learner.\r\n\r\nYour support didn't just bring new equipment into the room — it brought new confidence, new curiosity, and new possibilities. Thank you for making that difference.","fullyFundedDate":1757514942323,"projectUrl":"project/calculating-success/9567813/","projectTitle":"Calculating Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hutchison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8304938_orig.jpg?crop=3148,3148,x1094,y556&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1643844689978","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8304938"},{"teacherId":8815407,"projectId":9727186,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, my students have experienced one of the most exciting and engaging seasons of learning we've ever had. The new books you helped provide opened doors to teach skills that are often hard to access without high-interest, student-friendly texts—skills like locating and citing evidence, analyzing author's purpose, understanding character motivation, and building reading stamina. As students explored the books you funded, they used them to practice close reading, make real-world connections, and engage in meaningful discussions that strengthened both comprehension and confidence. These resources have become foundational to the way we teach reading in our room.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom now looks like joy, curiosity, and focus all happening at once. Students curl up with books during independent reading time, track their progress toward personal goals, and share their favorite passages with peers. The pictures I've included show students fully immersed in their books, choosing to read during free moments, and proudly meeting the reading goals they set for themselves. Your support didn't just place books on shelves—your gift created a culture of readers who are motivated, excited, and eager to challenge themselves.\r\n\r\nSome students, in particular, have blossomed because of this project. A few reluctant readers discovered new genres they now love, and several students who once struggled to finish a chapter are now completing entire books and asking for the next in the series. Others were inspired by the creativity possible with our 3D printer and Glowforge, designing pieces connected to what they read—maps, symbols, and small objects representing story elements. These hands-on extensions made reading more meaningful and helped students express their understanding in new ways.
