Some of my students enjoyed the book so much they read ahead of where the class was in the book! One student, who I never thought would admit to enjoying reading, even said he might read the other novels by this author. Receiving these new copies helped ensure we can continue to enjoy this book for years to come and hopefully create readers out of more students. \r\n\r\n\r\nSkink, No Surrender helped our students analyze characters, which I hope will help them better understand how to interact with people in the real world who have different perspectives than them. We also discussed the major themes of the book and worked on backing up our claims with evidence. Before your donation of books arrived, we only had a few new copies, and some students would switch books with a desk beside them in order to get the nicer copy. Previously the only option we had was sideline soccer in the gym. These goals allow us to play two separate games. One competitive where students have experience and are playing to win.
